The Wegie is a very family-friendly cat. It is no doubt one of the nicest breeds to own, regardless of how many kids or elderly family members live at home. While it is true that most cats can be trained and conditioned to be compatible with a family and kids, the Norwegian Forest Cat doesn’t need any special training–it is naturally compatible with humans!
How Big Can Norwegian Forest Cats Get?
Norwegian Forest Cats (a.k.a. Wegies) are a large breed that closely resemble their Maine Coon “cousins”. They have a rugged look with a semi-long coat and would have no problem blending right in with the other forest animals. Their fur is coarse and waterproof, so they can withstand the harsh winters of their native Norway. They come in just about every color and pattern variations (except seal point, chocolate point and Siamese of course). Wegies are natural born hunters, known for their muscular bodies and athletic nature. But just how big can they get?
History and Origins of the Norwegian Forest Cat
The history of the Norwegian Forest Cat is by far one of the most interesting among the many breeds. The “Wegie” (as it is affectionately known) is an increasingly popular breed with US and UK cat fanciers, however this was not the case until fairly recently.
